Abstract

Data on clinical follow-up and treatment of group of professionals who were once exposed to radiation and received dose ranged between 30 and 600 r are presented. The course of the disease was divided into 4 stages, all stages were described. Four grades of the disease were identified. On the basis of the described stages the conclusion was drawn that a picture of the disease is unclear if the dose is less than 100 r, the disease could not be identified as the acute disease of the 1st grade. Temporal changes in peripheral blood and results of study of myelograms allowed one to draw a conclusion on pathogenesis of the changes in the haematopoietic system caused by single exposure to radiation. Recommendations for treatment of acute radiation sickness are given.
