The average effective doses for 1986-2005 exposure of residents of settlements of the Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel and Tula regions of the Russian Federation, attributed to the zones of radioactive contamination on the basis of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1582 of December 18, 1997 "On approval of the list of settlements, located within the boundaries of zones of radioactive contamination following the Chernobyl disaster "

Abstract

Estimates of the average accumulated effective doses (NEDA) of irradiation of people permanently residing in 1986-2005 in settlements of the Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel and Tula regions, contaminated with radioactive fallout due to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident are presented in the article. Doses are calculated in accordance with the guidelines of MU 2.6.1.579-96 and the Addenda to them No. 1 (MU 2.6.1.1114-02) and No. 2 (MU 2.6.1.2004-05). They include external irradiation doses from all precipitated radionuclides and a dose of internal irradiation of the whole body with cesium radionuclides (137Cs and 134Cs) and strontium (90Sr and 89Sr). The contribution of other radionuclides (except 131I) to the dose of internal irradiation does not exceed 1%. The NEDA estimates presented here include the results of calculating the accumulated total body doses for the periods 1986-1995 and 1986-2001, previously published in works.

Key words
Estimates of average accumulated effective doses, exposure of residents, an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, radioactively contaminated territories, radionuclides, doses of internal exposure.
