Abstract

The paper presents the main data of large-scale radiation and epidemiological studies in Russia after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. A prognosis of the long-term radiative effects based on ICRP models and available demographic and dosimetric data is given. The actual data of the National Register confirm the radiation risks of leukemia (excluding CLL) incidence among liquidators and thyroid cancer among children, at the time of the Chernobyl disaster, in the population of the Bryansk region.

Key words
