"Radiation and Risk", 2001, Special Issue, pp.13-39

Abstract

This paper presents the main results of the generalized radiation and epidemiological analysis and forecasts the radiological consequences for the liquidators and the population of the Russian Federation living on the territories contaminated by the Chernobyl disaster. The medical-dosimetric database of the Register was used as an information basis for the analysis, which collected information for 571135 people, of which 184175 people are liquidators living throughout Russia and 336309 people - the population of the Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel and Tula oblasts, (or lived, including resettlement) in areas with contamination above 185 kBq/m 2. The total number of diagnoses of diseases detected in the database of the Register of diseases diagnosed in the liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and residents of the territories of Russia contaminated with radionuclides exceeds 6,000,000. The analysis also uses personal and generalized data from the regional oncological dispensaries of Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel and Tula oblasts, and data of state medical and demographic statistics.
