Abstract

Findings of dynamic follow-up of 43 patients with chronic radiation sickness obtained for the period of 18-23 years were analyzed. Special attention was paid to a condition of the stomach. Acid-forming function of the stomach during formation of the disease and in the delayed period was shown to be suppressed. The total number of patients with hypo- and achlorhydria was stable, it was more than 60%. Increase in the number of patients with chronic gastritis was noted. Organic character of hypo- and achloridhydria observed in the delayed period was confirmed by aspiration gastrobiopsy.
